Advantages Of Regenerative Air Sweeping

The regenerative air systems for sweeping is easily the most thorough method of sweeping. Tymco’s and Schwarzes are the industry’s equivalent to Coke and Pepsi. The better sweeper is a matter of opinion and typically is dictated by the user’s history with either brand. Both are arguably the best in the sweeping world for parking lot sweeping and because of this it is hard to choose which one to use…so we run both. At WCS we use Tymco 210’s and Schwarze 348’s

Mechanical sweepers offer a great result for a superficial cleaning or on street or construction sweeping. This is not because they are inferior models but because they depend solely on brooms to remove accumulation and debris. Strictly vacuum dependent sweepers typically only run on a single power unit and must maintain a level of suction to be able to aspirate the surface matter. The ability to clean properly diminishes if the user does not maintain the sweeper and its seals and closures deteriorate. These sweepers are ideal for sweeping strictly litter. The diagrams below highlight how each type of unit leaves the surface area after each pass.

We strive to leave each and every property detailed and to a level of cleanliness beyond what we found upon our arrival. To accomplish this we use and maintain only the best equipment, in our opinion of course. Together with the on-the-ground detailing with our backpack blowers, all properties are given the attention each deserves. Football & WCS go together

Every August we start to adjust our routes and calendars for the opening day tail-gating brought upon us by our Atlanta Falcons‘ season kick-off; each year we service parking lots all around the stadium due to the game day festivities. HBO Hardknocks is following  the Falcons through the pre-season and if you were not aware of it, it’s not too late to catch up, they have only aired two episodes of  a five week following.  This series highlights the team’s training routines, player-coach interaction and introduces the unfamiliar to the rookies.  You might be missing out. Here’s a preview;

Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Atlanta Falcons – Faces

After the ‘Martini Shot’

Over the last decade Georgia has positioned itself to become a hotspot for production companies to come and film scenes, series and even entire movies in and around the Atlanta Metro area.  Fast & Furious 7, Anchorman 2, Drop Dead Diva, Joyful Noise, The Originals and The Walking Dead are but a few projects that have taken place in Georgia.  It seems the industry has grown fond of the south and is here to stay and it is great news for our company. We have been hired to provide post production clean-up on several occasions.  From recreations of circa 1800’s dirt roads to action sequences, we have been able to do our part in restoring and cleaning multiple set locations.

At week’s end we received another such call. The production crew tasked with filming the up-coming sequel to the 2014 comedic duo movie was in need of sweeping services following scenes that featured pyrotechnic explosions that ripped a car to pieces. The remnants were shrapnel, glass and other car parts. For this type of general cleaning we used a mechanical/brush sweeper to sweep the road and to clean the sidewalks, curb lines and other nooks and crannies we used a regenerative air sweeper, or ‘vacuum’ style unit. Upon completion, what was left was an area that was ready to be “returned” to the city, undoubtedly, cleaner than when filming began.

Picking up an extra shift pays dividends to one of our employees as the always funny Kevin Hart was gracious enough to take a few seconds to greet him and without doubt make his day.

Being star-struck and selfies aside, we are humbled by the opportunity to once again provide our services to another production team and look forward to further business with them and others alike. For indoor or outdoor set and location sweeping services, contact us!

City of Alpharetta’s Old Soldier’s Day Parade [Photos]

The 62nd annual parade to recognize our country’s veterans took place Saturday morning. This event is put together by the city and the American Legion Post 201. Alpharetta’s streets were lined with spectators that cheered as the parade procession filed pass them. In attendance a number of floats, cars and trucks from local and nearby clubs, schools, business, veterans and active duty men and women-all dressed in the recognizable red, white and blue!

For the third consecutive year Watt Commercial Sweeping has had the privilege of helping with the post parade clean up. Once the event coordinators give the nod we take on the closed roads and lots in full force. Not 30 minutes after the last float, the roads open and in no more than an hour lots used for staging and parking have been swept.

Work Verification with GPS and More! [VIDEO]

One concern of business owners and managers attempting to hire adequate service providers is whether or not the work will be performed accurately and as agreed upon. This is a hurdle that is difficult to overcome when trying to establish a new business relationship and especially true in the sweeping industry.

Property sweeping service is most effective when performed during low traffic and occupancy hours. Unfortunately for business owners this might means it is to be done during the overnight hours. Short of coming to your property to supervise productivity during your off time and hoping there will be a steady flow of coffee in the morning, you are left with two options; 1) don’t hire anyone and have one of your current employees to go out and clean the parking lot-inevitably taking them from their regular duties and therein impeding productivity of your business or 2) hire a reputable and established company that has multiple ways of verifying that the agreed upon work is completed in a timely and effective manner.

We have invested efforts in optimizing our work verification procedures. First, all of our work is guaranteed. If it is not right due to our negligence, we will fix it immediately. The property will certainly reflect a great service. We take the time to train our employees to proficiently service each property. Upon your arrival you will undoubtedly notice that the property was serviced. Another measure we take is to ensure every employee on route keeps a written account of the time arrived, mileage driven during the service and time left. Each employee is expected to accurately document the entire route from start to finish. Also during each route, we electronically monitor, via vehicle tracking hardware, the truck’s location, speed, movement, and idle time within each property-allowing for real time verification. Subsequent to each service, our customer service and sales reps follow up on the previous night’s route to ensure the routes service execution was fulfilled to our operating standards. Should there be any doubt still, we can generate an electronic report from our tracking service provider that can show a minute by minute transcript of the truck’s movement for any given day.

The video below shows exactly how we can track and verifying with real time tracking.

All these implemented measures combined allow us the ability to provide each customer the peace of mind when hiring us. You can rest assured the work will be completed even when you are not present, but if you have any doubt we are only a phone call away from giving any and all work verification.

If you are interested in seeing sample documents of the reports and would like to receive a free estimate, contact us today!

Airport Sweeping

Foreign objects debris (FOD) are an unfortunate part of the aerospace industry but that’s where our two industries collide, no pun intended.  Sweeping of airport run ways, taxi ways, ramps, hangers and pads is crucial in eliminating FOD and the potential for catastrophic incidents.  Damage caused debris can range from the aircraft’s skin to tires, and worse, to engines. Direct damage cost to the aerospace industry are up to $2 billion dollars per year on the high-end, as pointed out by Insight SRI Ltd. in March 2008.

Sweeping service and maintenance, on a recurring basis, is the best remedy for eliminating these hazards. Don’t hesitate to contact us for more information on service!

North American Sweeper Magazine, a publication geared towards the sweeping industry, has a great article that highlights the cost of Foreign Object Debris, read more on it here.

Dirty curbs don’t stand a chance! [VIDEO]

Despite the level of accumulation of dirt and debris within any curb, we can get it cleaned out and looking sharp in no time! With a little determination and attention to detail we helped clean this property, bringing it to a desirable level of maintenance. This property had roughly 50% of the boundaries, curbs and shoulders, like this. Check out our short video on a stretch of curb-line.

For this job we used a blower to detail and two trucks; an air truck and a broom truck. The video showcases the broom truck.
